Gentle Introduction to Text Analysis I | University Libraries

January 31, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Are you interested in learning about text analysis but have little to no experience with programming languages or writing code? These two short courses will introduce you to multiple text analysis methods. We will examine real-world examples and engage in hands-on activities that don’t require running any code. The last session includes a discussion on problems and ethics in text analysis. These short courses are ideal for students and researchers in non-technical fields, faculty who would like to incorporate text analysis in their curriculum, or as a precursor to programming with text analysis tools.

A Gentle Introduction to Text Analysis I will cover both qualitative and quantitative text analysis methods, bag-of-words techniques and classification. Registration is required. There are no seats available but a waiting list is available. If you run into any issues, contact Lorin Bruckner for assistance.

This workshop is being offered remotely via Zoom only. Registrants will receive a Zoom link; those on the waitlist will not receive a Zoom link unless they are bumped up to a registered spot. The day after the workshop, registrants and those on the waitlist will receive a link to the workshop recording.
